Pack ‘N Play Sleeper Recalled by Graco

More than 51,000 Pack ‘N Play Sleepers have been recalled by Graco, a leading infant products company. The decision to recall the product comes on the heels of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Administration linking inclined infant sleepers with possible suffocation deaths. The government has proposed banning all such products, leading to a voluntary recall of Graco’s Pack ‘N Play.

Inclined Sleeper Accessories Also Recalled

It’s not just the Pack ‘N Play Sleeper being recalled. Any similar products offered as accessories are also included in the recall. Models impact include the Pack ‘n Play Day 2 Dream Playard with Bedside Sleeper, Graco Pack ‘n Play Nuzzle Nest Playard, Pack ‘n Play Everest Playard and the Pack ‘n Play Rock ‘n Grow Playard. If you believe you own one of the recalled products, heck to see if the model has been included in the recall. If it has, stop use immediately and contact Graco.

Why Inclined Sleepers are Dangerous

There have been multiple recalls over infant sleepers in the last few years. That’s because research has increasingly uncovered the dangerous link between inclined sleep and suffocation in babies. While an incline might lull a baby to sleep more easily than other positions, such angles can cause infants to roll over to their sides and stomachs and suffocate.

Companies are eager to distance themselves from such products after a reported 90 babies suffocated while using inclined sleepers. If you have a little one at home, take time to ensure that the products you use while caring for them are indeed safe for use.
